Help Us Save Sea Otters and Other Ocean Critters

Sea OtterDid you know the last Oregon sea otter was killed more than 100 years ago? Once inhabiting the entire west coast of North America, sea otters were nearly hunted to extinction for their thick furs. Now there are only small, sparse populations in Alaska, Canada, California, and Washington State.

Scientists have identified these curious and playful critters as a 'keystone' species. In the food chain, sea otters control populations of marine mollusks such as sea urchins. Without sea otters, the sea urchin population has proliferated, destroying kelp beds - underwater forest havens for many other sea creatures.

We hope to someday help reintroduce these marine mammals into their native habitat on the Oregon Coast!

Help Save Sea Animals!

Sea otters and other ocean critters are extremely vulnerable to pollution, parasites, and oil – do your part by making these small lifestyle changes.

YOU can help the otters and other sea creatures...

...while gardening!
Fertilize with non-toxic or biodegradable products. The water that runs off your yard ends up in the ocean.

...while running errands!
Use alternative transportation, ride a bike, take MAX.

...while grocery shopping!
Support local and organic farms that use fewer pesticides and less gasoline.
     Buy only sustainably harvested seafood.

...while driving your car!
Fix oil leaks and dispose of your oil properly.
