Protecting Fragile Asian Elephant Populations
Human-elephant conflict is a major problem in the state of Assam,
India. Asian elephants are at high risk of death from ivory poachers
and habitat degradation. Humans are at a high risk of death due to
a ever-increasing amount of contact with elephants. The Aaranyak
Institute will lead a project with help from Forest Department rangers
and local communities to help educate the local people in elephant
awareness and conservation by conducting training camps and giving
presentations in the native languages.
