Inspiring Our Community to Create a Better Future for Wildlife

Through the joint efforts of Oregon Zoo and the Oregon Zoo Foundation, the Future for Wildlife program greatly enhances
the zoo’s conservation efforts.

Zoo-Based Conservation Efforts

Oregon Zoo is dedicated to helping preserve native species of the Pacific Northwest. The zoo is involved in seven Species Recovery programs to help boost populations of endangered or sensitive species. The zoo also established and manages the Jonsson Center for Wildlife Conservation , which houses our condor and Washington pygmy rabbit breeding programs.

In-Situ Conservation Efforts

In-situ conservation means conservation work happening in the field. Oregon Zoo, through the Future For Wildlife, funds projects in the Pacific Northwest, North America and throughout the world.

Future for Wildlife Grants

Future for Wildlife Grants are funded through direct donations, Dine and Discover events, and Zoo Parent program proceeds. In addition, a 25¢ surcharge on all gate admissions funds projects within the Pacific Northwest, and proceeds from the Endangered Species Justice Fund support endangered species exclusively. Through these fund-raising efforts, Future for Wildlife is able to give grants to many conservation projects.
