Q: Are teachers considered chaperones?
A: Yes, teachers are chaperones.


Q: Do chaperones have to stay with the students while on the Zoo grounds?
A: Yes, your students must be chaperoned at all times while at the zoo if you receive the education discount. This includes the train ride and gift shops. You can purchase tickets at the 20% discount group rate and chaperones are not required.


Q: If I have extra tickets after our trip, can I get a refund?
A: Yes, just take your extra tickets to any ticket kiosk for a refund. Remember, for every 5 student tickets returned, you must return 1 chaperone ticket.


Q: Can we come on Second Tuesday?
A: Yes, you can come on Second Tuesday but you can't get your tickets in advance. You must wait in line with visitors.


Q: Are there any days we can't come?

A: No, the Zoo never "fills up" so you can come any day. The zoo is at its busiest from 9 a.m. - noon at the end of the week in the Spring. Consider coming early in the school year or earlier in the week.


Q: I have students that are over 18 years old, can they be chaperones?
A: No, High School students cannot be chaperones for other HS students.


Q: Do you have a family restroom for my special needs students?
A: The first aid restroom at the entrance to the zoo is available for individuals.


Q: Is there a place to store our lunches?
A: No, we do not have a specific area for lunch storage. All zoo restaurants are unable to store any outside food or drink.


Q: Does the Zoo offer school lunches?
A: Yes, we offer lunches September 1st through June 30th. Choose between hot dogs, corn dogs or Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. You can order lunches advance, on-line or on the School Group Advance Ticket Order Form.
