Escape to the Tropics: Spring Break at the Oregon Zoo

ZOO'S GONE WILD SPRING BREAK PARTY
March 23-April 5

Can't head to the tropics for Spring Break? Stop by Oregon Zoo instead. Wear your Hawaiian shirt and stroll around to tropical tunes. Keepers, volunteers and zoo staff have collaborated on a week chock full of activities that are just as fun for the animals as they are for the people.

Kenike's Wahines Polynesian Revue
Saturday, April 4 | Time: 1 p.m.

Part of the Zoo's Gone Wild Spring Break Party. On April 4 Kenike's Wahines Polynesian Revue will perform at 1 p.m. They will present a program of hula, Polynesian and Tahitian dancing.

RABBIT ROMP
Saturday, April 11| Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Rabbit Romp is a celebration of spring for all ages. Candy "egg" hunts occur
every 20 minutes for children ages 2-10. Don't forget to bring an Easter basket
for the egg hunt. Learn about the zoo's conservation efforts to protect our regional endangered pygmy rabbits. Games, petting zoo and fun for everyone.

Chimpanzee Challenge CHIMPANZEE CHALLENGE MAZE
April 25 - Oct. 4

$1.00 fee required in addition to regular zoo admission

Swing from vines, soar through treetops and 'Live Chimply' in the Chimpanzee Challenge maze. Perform feats of ape-like strength, agility, and communication to discover the surprising similarities between humans and chimps. Developed in collaboration with world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute, Chimpanzee Challenge brings the plight of the chimps closer to home, empowering visitors to make a difference.

Wildlife Conservation Lecture Series
Tuesday, April 28 | Time: 7 p.m.
Russ Morgan: "Wolf Conservation and Management in Oregon: Modern History, Challenges and the Future" Sponsored by Pro Photo Supply, Shiels Obletz Johnsen and Portland General Electric.

Wolves were exterminated from Oregon decades ago. Now they are returning to their historic range and making a comeback in the state. Morgan shares his recent discoveries and plans for conserving the species in Oregon.

The Wildlife Conservation Lecture Series, hosted by Oregon Zoo, Audubon Society of Portland and World Forestry Center, will be held in Oregon Zoo's Cascade Banquet Center. Cost for each lecture: $10 general admission, $8 for members of host organizations, students and seniors.
