Sam's First Birthday Party
Sunday,
Aug. 23
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Sam the baby elephant is turning 1 on Aug. 23, and all zoo visitors are invited to the birthday bash! As part of the festivities, the zoo's Elephant Plaza will be filled with a village of inflatable houses and slides for kids to play on, and guests who really want to get into the swing of things can wear a pair of elephant ears with "Happy Birthday" printed on them. Decorate-your-own-cupcakes will be available for purchase.
Other birthday activities include the following:
- 10:45 a.m.: Rose-Tu and Samudra get balls to play with in the indoor viewing room.
- 11:15 a.m.: Keeper chat in the east yard with a "snow cake" for Samudra.
- 1 p.m.: Sam gets his real birthday cake in the east yard.
- 1:15 p.m.: Elephant walk in the east yard with Samudra, Rose-Tu, Shine and Chendra.
- 2 p.m.: Bath in the east yard.
- 2:30 p.m.: Pool time in the east yard.
- 3 p.m.: Weighing in the indoor viewing area.

TILLAMOOK CHEESE DAY AT THE ZOO

Tillamook County Creamery Association celebrates 100 years with a day of fun and and games at the zoo. Enjoy samples of Tillamook Cheese as you wander the zoo grounds. Meet "Baby Loaf," the latest addition to the Tillamook Cheese mascot family, and head down to the Trillium Creek Family Farm to get your picture taken with Tillie, the cow mascot. Play games and have a chance at winning free cheese and ice cream coupons. |
SUMMER CAMP AT OREGON ZOO

a.m.-4 p.m. Grades 1 - 9: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Early care: 8 a.m.
Late
care: until 6 p.m.
Children
can spend five exciting days at the zoo learning about various endangered species.
Camp includes tours, games, crafts and more. |
OREGON ZOO SUMMER CONCERTS
Presented by NW Natural

Wednesday Zoo Tunes feature a variety of world, country, and folk music. Visitors picnic on terraced lawns in the outdoor amphitheater. These Wednesday concerts are free for members at the "Plus" level or higher. Non "Plus" members pay $10.50, which includes zoo admission after 4 p.m.

Zoo Beat Premium Concerts feature world-renowned artists at a great price. Tickets are available in advance at the zoo or through TicketMaster. For further information visit www.oregonzoo.org.

CHIMPANZEE CHALLENGE MAZE
April 25 - Oct. 4
$1.00 fee required in addition to regular zoo admission
Swing from vines, soar through treetops and 'Live Chimply' in the Chimpanzee Challenge maze. Perform feats of ape-like strength, agility, and communication to discover the surprising similarities between humans and chimps. Developed in collaboration with world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute, Chimpanzee Challenge brings the plight of the chimps closer to home, empowering visitors to make a difference.
