Oregon Zoo Fiftieth Anniversary 50 Years Here! Oregon Zoo's 50th Anniversary at this Location

Your Zoo opened at its "new" location in 1959 as part of Oregon's Centennial. We're kicking off our celebration with a patriotic concert by our local 234th Army Band on July 1. Fun family activities all weekend. Free with regular zoo admission. More information here, or call 503-226-1561.

Wednesday Zoo Tunes feature a variety of world, country, and folk music. Visitors picnic on terraced lawns in the outdoor amphitheater. These Wednesday concerts are free for members at the "Plus" level or higher. Non "Plus" members pay $10.50, which includes zoo admission after 4 p.m.

NATIONAL ZOO KEEPER APPRECIATION WEEK
July 19 - 25

Do you know how much poop an elephant keeper scoops in a day? Or how many meal worms must be counted in the Cascades exhibit daily? Did you know that many of our zookeepers hold advanced degrees? We appreciate our keepers all the time, but this week is set aside to showcase them. Keeper talks this week focus on what it takes to be a zookeeper. Each keeper will talk about the animals in their care and how they got into the profession.

4 year olds - K: 9 a.m. - Noon, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. or 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Grades 1 - 9: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Early care: 8 a.m.
Late care: until 6 p.m.

Summer ZooCamp is a wonderful week long experience. Children 4 yrs - 9th grade attend a week (4 yrs - K half days) of zoo fun. Each week includes Zoo tours, games, crafts, pettable animals and more. Each age group focuses on different themes. The youngest campers learn about spots, stripes, fur and feathers. Chimpanzee Challenge CHIMPANZEE CHALLENGE MAZE
April 25 - Oct. 4

$1.00 fee required in addition to regular zoo admission

Swing from vines, soar through treetops and 'Live Chimply' in the Chimpanzee Challenge maze. Perform feats of ape-like strength, agility, and communication to discover the surprising similarities between humans and chimps. Developed in collaboration with world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute, Chimpanzee Challenge brings the plight of the chimps closer to home, empowering visitors to make a difference.
