SAFE KIDS DAY

Saturday, May 1
9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Join us at the Zoo for a fun and interactive safety event for families!

Kids - visit 10 safety stations throughout the zoo, complete the 'safety safari', and earn a prize (while supplies last) Parents - coach your kids and join experts in providing important safety tips on bike safety, motor vehicle safety, poison prevention, and more!

Make every kid a Safe Kid!

One of the zoo’s animal moms will be chosen as Zoo Mother of the Year and receive a special Mother’s Day treat. Free with zoo admission.

An amazing buffet including assorted pastries and muffins, scrambled eggs, potatoes O'Brien, bacon and sausage, omelets, French toast, pastas, salads, and many desserts. This event is at the Cascade Crest banquet Center. More info.

A workshop hosted by the Oregon Zoo and the Xerces Society

Learn about the importance of conserving bees and other native pollinators. Hear from experienced biologists and learn how conservation practices can be implemented into urban, agricultural and natural settings.

Learn more about these interesting omnivores during animal talks every day during the week. Plus, when you buy a new bear in the Zoo Store, a donation will be made to support bear conservation in the wild! Keeper Talks and Enrichment happening every day:

Endangered Species Day

Did you know the zoo is home to more than 70 endangered or threatened species? Come learn about the animals that most need our help on Endangered Species Day. We'll be featuring keeper talks and enrichment activities for some of our endangered species, like the African slender-snouted crocodile in this photo.

10:30 a.m. - Keeper talk at chimpanzee exhibit; chimps will receive quilts and papier–mâché fruit baskets.
11 a.m. - Keeper talk and crocodile feeding in the Bamba du Jon Swamp exhibit.
12:30 p.m. - Keeper talk at wolf exhibit; wolves will receive papier–mâché rodents and birds.

Prehistoric Predators

10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Exhibit open through Labor Day

Fierce hunters and their nimble prey face off on an ancient rainforest trail featuring dinosaurs found around the world, including an intimidating Giganotosaurus. The path also features activity stations to unearth fossils and photo-opportunity spots. Identification posts geared to all ages explain the differences and similarities to present day predators and their prey. Tickets for this special exhibit are $3.50 in addition to general zoo admission.

9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Oregon Episcopal School "Lego Physics" classes present an original display of computerized Lego masterpieces in the Kalahari Room at the zoo. This is the 11th year the school has displayed its Lego creations, which demonstrate physics principles in a fun and imaginative way.
