  Hummingbird Garden

Location: Along the train tracks, across from Trillium Creek Family Farm

Purpose: Plants featured in this garden attract hovering hummingbirds looking for nectar. The garden also serves as a bioswale, a shallow depression created in the earth to accept and convey storm-water runoff. Plants soak up the water like a sponge, and can survive standing water as well.

Key Plants Hollyhock (Alcea rosea 'Chater's Double Red')
Cardinal flower (Lobelia f. 'Queen Victoria')
Bee balm (Monarda didyma 'Jacob Cline')
Beard tongue (Penstemon x c. 'Garnet')
    California fuchsia (Zauschneria Epilobum california)
