July, 2003. Before work
began on the Eagle Canyon construction site, the Oregon Zoo's Horticulture
Staff removed native ground covers,
brush and small trees to safeguard them for replanting later. Concrete
footings and walls were poured for the exhibit structures. The following
photos show the Oregon Zoo's Exhibits Department Staff
sculpting and carving realistic rock facades from concrete. Work continues
quickly on site.
