Tide Pool Exhibit

The sea creatures you are most likely to see on Northwest coast are those that live in tide pools that form on ocean beaches. Tide pools are stressful environments with animals specifically adapted to survive surf surge, drying and extremes in water and air temperature.

The tide pool houses anemones (giant green, aggregate), chitons, limpets, snails, mussels, crabs, sea cucumbers, urchins, sea stars, sculpins, gobies, painted greenlings and gunnels.

In this exhibit, Zoo volunteers show you and tell you about these fascinating animals, and teach coastal etiquette.
