Oregon Zoo - Gallery

Conrad and Tasul were born at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, South Carolina on December 1, 1984. Before their birth, polar bear cubs didn't usually survive long. Their keeper at Riverbanks Zoo was instrumental in the effort to increase the chance of long term survival for the cubs. His efforts were rewarded as the healthy brother and sister team were sent to the Oregon Zoo January 31, 1986. Little did that keeper know that he would be reunited with the cubs twelve years later as he became the director of the Oregon Zoo. The following "baby" pictures were taken by Conrad and Tasul's former polar bear keeper, and the present Oregon Zoo director, Tony Vecchio.
