Its a
jungle out there..why not prepare for it with an internship at the zoo?
Job Description:
We are looking for a college student or graduate with course work or a background in biology or zoology and some related experience with animals. Interns will work in the wildlife show program and assist the show staff with basic animal husbandry duties. In addition, they may participate in the presentation of summer free-flight bird shows, classroom programs and on-grounds events and displays.

What
you would do as an intern...
Wildlife Show Internships are physically demanding and interns may be
subject to a variety of environmental factors. All applicants are advised
to consider these factors when applying for this internship. Days may
vary with the show season. While there is some flexibility, interns should
be available for a 32-hour-per-week, 12-week-long internship.
- Daily tasks included in the care of the wildlife show collection, such as weighing, diet preparation, cleaning enclosures.
- Receive instruction and experience in animal handling and training techniques.
- Learn implementation and record keeping for environmental enrichment program.
- Gain experience with basic raptor mew design, perching, flooring and maintenance.
- Assist show staff in the presentations of summer shows, classroom programs and on-grounds events and displays.
- In addition, special projects may be arranged depending on the intern’s interests, availability and demonstrated skills.
Working with animals is physically demanding, and requires frequent bending, stretching and lifting. Interns may also be required to work outdoors and must, therefore, be able to tolerate extreme weather conditions. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs.
