Social Media Marketing Internship

It's a jungle out there...Why not prepare for it with an internship at the zoo?

Job Description: We are looking for an intern with advanced skills in social media and online marketing to manage the zoo's Web presence for 20 hours per week. The internship is a minimum of 12 weeks.

The ideal candidate will have...

  • Experience using major social media marketing tools, including Facebook, Twitter, RSS, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn and WordPress.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills with a clever and imaginative writing style.
  • Ability to manage time and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and measurement preferred (e.g.- Google Analytics, bit.ly tracking).

Possible assignments include...

  • Working with other zoo marketing staff to prioritize and schedule content for social media postings and the zoo's electronic newsletter.
  • Re-writing news releases and Web content for posting on social media sites and the zoo's electronic newsletter.
  • Creating innovative content for social media that encourages user participation and discussions.
  • Keeping zoo staff current on social media and online marketing trends.
  • Working with the zoo's videographer/photographer and his interns to post images and videos online.
  • Monitor other Web sites and blogs that have Oregon Zoo information and correct or enhance them.
