Web Programming Internship

It’s a jungle out there...Why not prepare for it with an internship at the zoo?

We are looking for an intern with advanced skills in web programming to assist with the zoo’s web site.

What you must have...

  • A serious interest in web programming.
  • Knowledge of or aptitude to learn web programming languages such as Perl and Coldfusion.
  • Working knowledge of Dreamweaver or HTML.
  • Knowledge or experience in working with CGI scripts and/or databases a plus.

Possible assignments include...

  • Build dynamic web forms with Coldfusion or Perl.
  • Assist in the design of web-based, paperless office systems.
  • Build new pages for the zoo's internal and external web sites.
  • Assist with updating information on the zoo's web sites.
  • Add interactive features, videos and sounds to the zoo's web sites.

How to apply...
Send your resume, the URL of at least one web site that shows your programming skills (be specific about the role you played in developing the site, versus what was done by others) and a cover letter that answers the following questions:

  • What type of web programming experience do you have, including languages, types of projects, etc.?
  • What are your career goals and how would this internship help you achieve them? What do you hope to gain from this internship?
  • What kind of coursework and/or experience do you have that would make you a valuable intern?
  • In what areas are you most interested in attaining experience through this internship? 

From the applications, we will select interns to be interviewed. Deadline for applications is:

  • Spring term February 15
  • Summer term May 1
  • Fall term September 15
  • Winter term December 1
