Grizzly Bears Enrichment

Behavior
Grizzly Bear Food- Grizzly bears are omnivorous. They eat flowers, berries, grass, honey, salmon, and many types of fish

Families- Grizzly bears are very much like polar bears. The mothers and the cubs are bonded very closely.

Location- Grizzly bears are found in much of Canada and Alaska

Enrichment the Oregon Zoo

  • Christmas tree during the holidays
  • Caribou antlers to mimic their natural environment
  • Scare crow in fall to rip open
  • Hidden fruit and seeds
  • Peanut butter, ketchup, mustard, and honey hidden in holes around exhibit
  • Dried chilies, pineapple, mangos, and sunflower seeds given occasionally
  • Bones given twice a week to chew on
  • Scattered food in the afternoons
  • "Den" to sleep in
  • Boomer Balls (see common enrichment)
