Enrichment for Tigers

Tiger Food- Tigers are carnivores, which mean that they eat only meat and fish.

Families- Males are solitary unless they are courting (mating) females. Females stay with cubs for about 7 months until cubs can fend for themselves.

Location- mountain woodlands- Russia, North Korea, Asia

Enrichment at the Oregon Zoo
  • Paper Mache Deer
  • Ice treats
  • Heated "Balcony" area of the exhibit to sleep on, especially during winter.
  • Boomer balls(see common enrichment)
  • Large "swimming pool" for hot days built as part of the exhibit
  • Tiger Enrich
  • Scare crows stuffed with hay in the fall
  • Plastic "Contraption"
  • Jack-o-lantern made of pumpkins during Halloween
  • Cardboard house during Christmas.
