Wildlife Conservation Lecture Series

The Wildlife Conservation Lecture Series is a collaborative effort of Oregon's premier educational and conservation organizations; the Oregon Zoo, the Audubon Society of Portland, and the World Forestry Center. The series brings distinguished biologists, scientists, and environmental advocates to Portland to share their work and views of nature.

The Zoo's Gone Wild - Spring Break Celebration

Can't head for the tropics for Spring Break? Stop by Oregon Zoo instead. Keepers, volunteers and zoo staff collaborate making it chock full of special activities that are just as fun for the animals as they are for the 35,000-60,000 families with children in attendance.

This spring eggstravaganza for children provides candy egg hunts, games, crafts, whimsical displays, and a petting Zoo. Favorite rabbit tales are brought to life in the Rabbits Garden, where youngsters can meet characters from Alice in Wonderland. Costumed bunnies are on hand to give hugs.
Elephantastic - featuring Packys Birthday

5,000-7,000 families with children help celebrate Packy, the first elephant born at the Zoo. Guests sing to Packy on the Saturday closest to his birthday, while he eats his special cake. There are elephant games and crafts for kids, and cake for visitors, too.
Bear Fair

Come out of hibernation just in time for spring break! Children are invited to bring their teddy bears to this entertaining and educational event for check-ups and repairs by Zoo vets at our Teddy Bear repair station. While visiting the Zoo's three bear exhibits and activity stations, they will learn interesting facts about bears and bear habitats.
Winged Wonders! Butterfly Exhibit

What weighs as little as two rose petals and yet can migrate hundreds of miles? Butterflies! A temporary exhibit of butterflies enchants over 750,000 summertime Zoo visitors. This beautiful, interactive and educational exhibit teaches guests about these wonderful creatures and how they can attract them to their own backyard.

Each summer, 60,000-75,000 Oregon Zoo visitors enjoy great music on the Zoos concert lawn. More than 25 weekday and weekend concerts feature premium musical performers. Picnicking is encouraged during these family-oriented musical programs.

Dine & Discover is a series of three extraordinary and intimate food and wine experiences, each representing fascinating information for 75-100 fine dining enthusiasts. The multi-course feast, prepared by Executive Chef Paul Warner, is accompanied by a presentation from a Zoo staff member on the animals being highlighted.
Senior Safari

This event provides free admission, train rides, and light refreshments for 2,500-5,000 seniors and companions. Entertainment is provided by and for seniors. Community service organizations join Zoo volunteers and staff to provide an enjoyable day at the Zoo.
World Animal Festival

A multi-cultural celebration of animals, World Animal Festival is an exciting showcase of how animals are revered and celebrated by different cultures around the world. Cultural groups present their versions of animal folklore including performance art, interactive displays, art exhibits, craft projects, and educational activities. 15,000-25,000 families with children join us for these weekends.
Howloween at the Zoo

October 25-26, 2008 |
Howloween at the Zoo is an educational, fun, safe, and unique setting for trick-or-treating. 5,000 - 10,000 families with children complete an intriguing scavenger hunt including activity stations in order to collect candy and prizes.
ZooLights Festival

A tradition since 1986, the ZooLights Festival is the Oregon Zoos celebration of the holiday season and the premier holiday event in the area. The Zoo displays over a half-million lights of all colors and sizes to illuminate the Zoo and create animated animal silhouettes; 60,000 - 80,000 people come to the Zoo during the ZooLights Festival.
