Our life-saving team of team of veterinarians, animal health technicians and keepers face an incredible range of challenges each day - from root canal surgery on Tusko the elephant... to endoscopic gall bladder surgery on Inji the orangutan... to long-term treatment of Thelma the sea otter for her collapsed lung... to painstaking efforts to bring another condor into the world.

Quite literally, the hold the future of wildlife in their hands each and every day. We have the dedicated veterinary team with experience and expertise, and thanks to last year's voter-passed bond measure, there is funding for a new animal hospital building.

Work has already begun! The Zoo's veterinary team has looked at other facilities throughout the country to help assure that our facility will not only meet current needs, but will have the flexibility to grow with us in the future. Plans have been drawn up and the ground breaking is planned for the spring.

From surgery tables to sterilizers to autoclaves to a radiography machine, the tools available to our veterinary team are just as important as the facility.

This is where your involvement will make a huge difference. Because each animal in our care is priceless, we simply must provide the best care that medical technology has to offer. Your tax-deductable contribution at this time will help furnish the new Veterinary Medical Center with state-of-the-art equipment.

Each and every gift is important and appreciated. There are unique recognition opportunities for donations of $250 or more.

$250 donations: Know our animals inside and out with a set of coasters featuring the digital x-rays of some of our well know residents

$500 donations: Invitation to a special open house when the Veterinary Medical Center is up and running

$1,000 donations: Recognition on Zoo grounds near the Veterinary Medical Center and invitation to dedication of the Center

$5,000+ donations: Recognition as an Honorary Veterinary Associate in the Veterinary Medical Center as well as on Zoo grounds, invitation to dedication of the Center and individual tour led by Zoo veterinarian
