Weather-related Closures
On rare occasions, the zoo may have to close because of ice, snow or other weather-related conditions. We will always attempt to post such closures on the front page of the web site. However we may not be able to make it into the office to do so!
For the most up-to-date information on weather-related closures, call the zoo at 503-226-1561.

* Not all of the animals will be on exhibit at 8 a.m., but it's interesting to watch as keepers prepare the exhibits for the day. Among the zoo's early risers are eagles, salmon, frogs, turtles and waterfowl in the Great Northwest Exhibit; penguins and Inca terns in the Penguinarium; birds in the Vollum Aviary; naked mole rats and spiny mice in the Africa exhibit; fish and reptiles in the Amazon Flooded Forest; insects in the Insect Zoo; and sometimes elephants.

Social Service Agencies

The Oregon Zoo will provide admission for social service agencies to bring their clients and an appropriate number of chaperones to the zoo on one day within a 24-month period. Social service agencies are those providers that work in conjunction with governmental agencies and provide such resources as adoption, child and family services, health care, welfare, and social work programs providing for mental health, elderly, or homeless clients. Your group must visit together on one day, with a letter of approval in hand. Visits can take place between September and May. Please email your request to ticket.request@oregonzoo.org. We will review the request within two weeks and email you the letter if approved.
