The
zoo is open seven days a week, every day of the year, except
Christmas.
Visitors may remain on zoo grounds one hour after the gates
close. These hours apply to the Cascade Outfitters gift shop
and to either the Cascade Grill restaurant or Cascade
to-go kiosk.
WINTER HOURS Sept. 16 - May 14
Open 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Grounds stay open until 5 p.m.
SUMMER HOURS May. 15 - Sept. 15
Open 8
a.m.* to 6 p.m. Grounds stay open until 7 p.m.
* Not all of the animals will be on exhibit at 8 a.m., but it's interesting to watch as keepers prepare the exhibits for the day. Among the zoo's early risers are eagles, salmon, frogs, turtles and waterfowl in the Great Northwest Exhibit; penguins and Inca terns in the Penguinarium; birds in the Vollum Aviary; naked mole rats and spiny mice in the Africa exhibit; fish and reptiles in the Amazon Flooded Forest; insects in the Insect Zoo; and sometimes elephants.
Weather-related Closures
On rare occasions, the zoo may have to close because of ice, snow
or other weather-related conditions. We will always attempt to
post such closures on the front page of the web site. However
we may not be able to make it into the office to do so!
For the most up-to-date information on weather-related closures, call
the zoo at 503-226-1561.
