Oregon Zoo Divers Program
The Oregon Zoo's Volunteer Dive Program
Are you a certified SCUBA diver with at least three hours a week to devote
to the zoo? Dive right into a supportive, stimulating and fun workplace environment
while developing your diving skills. Work closely with marine life keepers
in the care of habitats. Among the many zoo animals that benefit from Zoo
Diver participation are: Steller sea lions, sea otters, and a variety of Northwest
fish and invertebrates. |

Requirements
Zoo divers must be at least 18 years of age and certified scuba divers with a minimum of 40 dives. Entry to the program requires a completed scuba volunteer application form, which includes a criminal background check. Volunteers must also attend an orientation session with Volunteer Coordinator and Dive Safety Officer (DSO) prior to entry into the program. You should be able to demonstrate proficiency listed in the Oregon Zoo Checkout and Training Evaluation. Volunteers are expected to make a three-hour per week time commitment to the program with absence notification at least 24 hours in advance. Divers should provide their own equipment, which must be in clean and working order. The zoo can provide Aluminum 80 tanks and Sea Soft weight belts.
