Group Volunteering
Looking
for a way to give time to the Zoo as a group? We might have just the
opportunity you are looking for.
Projects
are set up depending on the availability of the interested group.
Opportunities:
- Horticulture
- Conservation/restoration projects
- Special Events
- Special Event Preparation
Qualifications:
- Groups
must have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 25 individuals
- Meet
all requirements of the group volunteer policies:
- Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
- For
volunteers under the age of 18 you must provide a 1:5 adult to
youth ratio.
- Group Volunteers must identify a Group Coordinator that is responsible
for the safety and well being of group members:
- To provide coordination and supervision for group while volunteering.
- To ensure all members adhere to Zoo rules and procedures.
- It
is the responsibility of the coordinating group to obtain a signed
parental consent form for group members under the age of 18, which
must be on file with the Group Coordinator.
- The Oregon Zoo reserves the right to reject a volunteer for any reason
which the Zoo, in its sole judgment, determines will or may affect
the best interests of the Zoo. Furthermore, the Zoo reserves the right
to withhold
the reason(s) for such refusal.
- The Oregon Zoo cannot guarantee volunteer placement. The Zoo will,
however, make every effort to match volunteer applicants to volunteer
opportunities based on the needs of the Zoo and the interests and abilities
of the volunteer.
