ZooGuides are adult volunteers who've gone through a 35-hour training program and then pledge to volunteer at our zoo for at least 88 hours per year.

We are a diverse group with a wide range of ages and interests. We all enjoy the zoo and each other's company. Most important, we make a difference in the zoo. Learn about the benefits of being a ZooGuide.

Once trained, there are many opportunities that you can chose to become involved in. You might like to educate the public by doing animal talks on-grounds or in schools. You may want to become involved in programs that involve our special program animals. There are also opportunities to help out in the office or serve behind the scenes doing gardening projects or construction activities for events. We are involved in many education programs and events, assisting with animals shows, and working with staff in every part of the zoo. There is something for everyone!

Informational orientation sessions  to learn about becoming a ZooGuide are held in January and September. Training sessions are held in February and October.

Call 503-220-2783 and reserve your space for an informational orientation session. Please be specific so we will know which orientation you will be attending.
