There's nothing funny about extinction, which is why the Portland chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers is hosting the Oregon Zoo's second annual comedy night Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 as a fundraiser to directly support the Audubon Society of Portland and Tanzania-based Ruaha Carnivore Project.
Oregon Zoo comedy night - hosted by Daria from 105.1 The Buzz - will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Cascade Ballroom and will include hors d'oeuvres and adult refreshments, a silent and live auction and performances by comedians Alex Falcone and Bri Pruett.
Alex Falcone is a stand-up comedian living in Portland, OR where he writes for the The Portland Mercury and the public radio show Live Wire! Radio. He's the creator and host of the live talk show Late Night Action w/ Alex Falcone and the surprisingly popular podcast Read it and Weep, in which people pay him to suffer through bad books and movies.
Bri Pruett is a stand-up comic and improviser from Portland, Oregon. She's appeared at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival and the All Jane No Dick comedy festival. For 6 years she's been a part of Action/Adventure Theater, a non-profit independent theater and black box venue in Southeast Portland. Willamette Week named her one of the Funniest 5 Comedians in Portland.
The AAZK is a nonprofit, volunteer organization made up of professional zoo keepers and other interested persons dedicated to professional animal care and conservation.
