Rescuing Borneo's Great Apes

October 12, 2017 - 05:00pm to 07:30pm

Can you imagine if your job was rescuing orphaned orangutans? It’s hard to find anything cuter than a baby orangutan, but these amazing creatures are imperiled. The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, headed by Dr. Jamartin Sihite, is saving orangutans every day, and Dr. Sihite will give a presentation on their important work.

The evening will kick off with a viewing of Oregon Zoo’s orangutans, Inji, Kitra and Bob.  Zookeepers will discuss the zoo’s work with these amazing great apes and give guests a chance for their own orang selfie!  Then at the Cascade Grill, Dr. Sihite will share about his work rehabilitating orangutans in “Forest School,” and conserving their Borneo forest habitat. The evening will conclude with and exploration of direct actions we can all take to help orangutans in Borneo and elsewhere.

Food and beverages, including Oregon beer & wine, will be available for purchase starting at 5 p.m.
Please note that this event is best suited for adults and older youth (Ages 12+).
Orangs may choose not to participate in selfies, but we’ll do our best to encourage them!

Tickets are $25, a portion of which will be donated to fund the work of BOSF.
