Stephanie Cameron, former director of marketing at the Doubletree Hotel Portland, has been named the new marketing/communications manager for the Oregon Zoo, officials announced. Cameron assumed her duties at the zoo Jan. 31, overseeing marketing, communications, events and design services.

“I am so excited to be joining the team at the zoo,” Cameron said. “I consider it a great privilege to find an opportunity that will allow me to use my experience in the hospitality industry and passion for creativity to market one of Oregon’s top attractions.”

Cameron has nearly 20 years of experience in sales and marketing in the hospitality and tourism industry. In addition, she has served on Travel Portland’s convention sales steering committee and chaired a subcommittee for short-term business initiatives for the Portland hospitality community. She’s been deeply involved with initiatives involving sustainability, an important part of zoo operations.

“We had a lot of great candidates for the position, but Stephanie’s experience is a perfect fit for the zoo’s vision moving forward,” said Kim Smith, zoo director. “Her energetic and creative personality will be a great asset.”

“This is truly a dream job and I look forward to getting started,” added Cameron, a self-described animal lover.
