Zoo comedy night will benefit Portland Audubon and a Tanzanian carnivore project
Cackling geese, laughing hyenas and hard-to-amuse humans all stand to benefit from the Oregon Zoo's second annual comedy night Saturday, Nov. 1., featuring comedians Alex Falcone and Bri Pruett.
Emceed by Daria from 105.1 The Buzz, the comedy night runs from 6 to 10 p.m. in the zoo's Cascade Ballroom and will include hors d'oeuvres and adult refreshments, a silent auction, live auction and performances by Falcone and Pruett. Tickets for this fundraiser are $50 ($90 for two) and can be purchased online.
A veteran of Portland's standup scene, Alex Falcone is creator and host of the live talk show "Late Night Action" and the podcast "Read It and Weep" (in which people pay him to suffer through bad books and movies). He also writes for The Portland Mercury and the "Live Wire!" radio show, and has appeared on the hit TV show "Portlandia."
Bri Pruett — named one of Portland's Funniest 5 comedians by Willamette Week last year — is Falcone's sidekick and director for "Late Night Action." She also performs with the Curious Comedy Theater and the improv singing-ensemble Pipes.
The AAZK is a nonprofit, volunteer organization made up of professional zookeepers and other interested persons dedicated to professional animal care and conservation.
