Pub Talk: Recovery of a Flying Giant

November 14, 2018 - 07:00pm

Oregon Zoo Pub Talks continue with an event focusing on the zoo’s conservation work with California condors

Presented by Pro Photo Supply, Oregon Zoo Pub Talks connect you with conservation experts. Each month a conservation, animal care or wildlife science professional will share their knowledge and experience saving animals across the planet, from the forests of Borneo to the skies of the Pacific Northwest.

The November pub talk will feature Travis Koons, who oversees the Oregon Zoo's bird area, and the zoo's non-lead hunting education coordinator Leland Brown, who will discuss the zoo’s work in bringing the critically endangered California condor back from the brink of extinction and eliminating threats it faces in the wild.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the talk begins at 7 p.m., followed by a Q&A.

GET TICKETS General admission tickets are $15.

GET VIP TICKETS VIP tickets cost $40 and include a pre-talk cocktail reception with the featured speakers, an animal experience and reserved seating. VIP guests will get up close with the zoo’s NW raptor residents and discover the different roles they play in the ecosystem and learn how to tell them apart based on their unique features. VIP doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the experience and reception will take place between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the Education Center.
