World Orangutan Day

Celebrate World Orangutan Day at the Oregon Zoo.

World Orangutan Day is an opportunity for visitors to celebrate and learn about these extraordinary apes. Primate exploration stations will offer visitors a better understanding of the great apes, and kids can try on an orangutan arm suit to experience a what it feels like to have an eight-foot arm span. Throughout the day, keeper staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide visitors with actions they can take to protect orangutans.

Schedule of events

  • Orangutan arm suit and Primate Exploration Station: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Keeper talks and enrichment: 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
