Step back in time aboard the zoo train
Trains run every 15 to 20 minutes from 10:30 a.m. to close and are $5 per rider (10% discount for zoo members). All rides are weather-dependent. Animals may not be visible from the train.
The zoo currently operates three passenger trains, each a little more than half the size of a standard train:
The Zooliner, custom-built in 1958, is a replica of GM’s famous Aerotrain from the 1950s.
The steam train was built for the 1959 Oregon Centennial Exposition. It is pulled by a replica of the famous Reno steam locomotive, which ran in Nevada from the 1870s through the 1940s.
The Oregon Express is an excursion-type train featuring large open-air coaches.
