Conservation Impact
From the Pacific Northwest to Borneo, the Oregon Zoo is restoring endangered species and mobilizing communities to take action for wildlife.
For more than 30 years, the zoo has been a leader in wildlife conservation, turning local action into global impact. From saving species to advancing community-based programs, the zoo’s work is rooted in science, collaboration and care. Through longstanding partnerships with Tribes, agencies, universities and community organizations, the Oregon Zoo helps restore imperiled wildlife, protect critical habitats and support solutions that benefit both animals and people.
What makes this work possible is a uniquely collaborative approach. Conservation at the Oregon Zoo is powered by the expertise of every department, strengthened by an extensive network of partners and amplified by a community of 1.5 million annual visitors and more than 6.5 million social media followers from around the globe.
This collective effort drives three interconnected goals: protecting wildlife, advancing coexistence and inspiring deeper community engagement, creating conservation impact that reaches far beyond the zoo’s gates.
