Education Center

A place for discovery

The zoo's new education center is filled with amazing things to see and do. You'll peer into the world of tiny wildlife at the new Insect Zoo. You'll find tips on the best places to paddle your canoe, view wildflowers or hike. You can sign up to help restore habitat or collect data about local wildlife.

Home to the zoo's summer camps and teen volunteer programs, the center also includes a 150-seat event space where you'll enjoy lectures from wildlife experts and screenings of inspiring nature documentaries. Discovery Plaza, bordered by a woodland and gardens, includes a café and comfortable seating where you can relax and take a break during your zoo adventure.

Nature Exploration Station

Whether you visit at the beginning or end of your day at the zoo, the center offers activities, adventures and connects you with nature in brand new ways. You'll learn where to discover nature in your neighborhood, see wildlife conservation in progress and take action on behalf of the natural world.

Education Center partners

Oregon Zoo is building partnerships with agencies and organizations from around the region that focus on conservation and education. Through these partners, visitors can sign up for classes, workshops, restoration projects, backyard certification and more.

Conservation Hall

In this 150-seat meeting space, our community comes together to hear from naturalists and conservation innovators. See the schedule for upcoming wildlife film screenings, science presentations and celebrations. Here, you'll learn about the conservation heroes at work around the world and how you can take action to help.

Thank you, campaign donors!

The Oregon Zoo Foundation's education campaign raised $1.7 million to support enhancements to the education center and the zoo's conservation education efforts. Thank you for helping to make it a huge success!
