Explore a whole new section of Elephant Lands!
Since Packy's birth in 1962, the Oregon Zoo elephant herd has inspired millions of visitors to appreciate and care for wildlife. Now, the zoo is nearing completion on its most ambitious project to date: Elephant Lands. This visionary habitat will provide a world-class home for the herd and an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Guests at Elephantastic will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a portion of the habitat – from the elephants' perspective. Small group tours will be available through the soon to open North Habitat*, what some long-time patrons may remember as the Elk Meadow. ZooGuides will be hosting elephant activity stations - including opportunities for visitors to take action on behalf of wild elephants, and hands-on educational activities for kids - around the Elephant Plaza and concert lawn.
Activities and tours are free with zoo admission.
*Because Elephant Lands is comprised of 4-5' of sand for the elephants' comfort, tours of the North Habitat are not suitable for people with mobility challenges. The visitor viewing areas are fully accessible.
