Summer days at the zoo offer an opportunity to experience zoo animals in a dynamic way. Throughout each day, staff present wildlife shows on the zoo's stage and concert lawn to amaze and inspire audiences. Also, from October through April, bring a Wild Life Live! presentation to an assembly at your school.
Summer 2013 shows
Wild About Oregon
This summer's show, Birds of the World, is a free-flight show that features a variety of bird species from around the globe. Come experience birds soaring directly overhead and discover how they are adapted to survive in diverse habitats.
Presented by Portland General Electric
- Shows run daily, June 15 to Sept. 2.
- Show times are 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Each show lasts approximately 20 minutes.
- At 3:30 p.m., visitors can stop at the Animal All-Stars display at the stage, take photos and ask zoo staff about the show animals.
- All shows are weather-dependent and are not presented on summer concert days. On those days, birds are on display around the concert lawn at 11:00 and 2:00..

Wild Life Live! at your school
Arrange for a Wild Life Live! assembly to take place in your school's gym, cafeteria, auditorium or very large room. (Note: if rooms have windows, they will need to be covered for the assembly.)
Jungle Journey
Jungle Journey takes you on an exciting adventure where you meet some of the rainforest animals living at the zoo. In this interactive assembly, children discover how different adaptations help rainforest animals survive in the wild. Show features a parrot, snake, and other animals from rainforests around the world.
Available October through April
Kindergarten and older
Duration: 35 minutes
First presentation: $250
Additonal same-day presentations (three max): $200
Predators of the Sky
This assembly highlights the fierce and fast avian predators of the sky as students get a close-up view of birds soaring overhead. Students see raptors from the Pacific Northwest and all over the world.
Available October, November, March, April
Third grade and older
Duration: 45 minutes
First presentation: $300
Additional same-day presentations (three max): $250

Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Please limit attendance to 400 students per presentation.
