Zoo to close early on Saturday to prepare for Zoolala

Oregon Zoo's annual summer fundraiser takes place this Saturday, July 21

The Oregon Zoo will close early at 3 p.m. this Saturday, July 21, to set up for the Oregon Zoo Foundation's annual summer celebration, Zoolala. Visitors already in the zoo by that time may remain until 4 p.m.

The 13th annual Zoolala, presented by Spirit Mountain Casino, will feature culinary delights from more than 25 of the area's top restaurants, beverages hosted by Deschutes Brewery and Chateau Ste. Michelle wines, plus a wide array of activities, animal interactions and entertainment, including painting performance artist Jimmy Gersen, Wanderlust Circus, the Tara Williamson Quartet and Beatles-through-the-ages band Apple Jam.

"Zoolala is a great summer celebration," said Mark Loomis, chair of the Oregon Zoo Foundation board of trustees. "But it's also more than that — it's a chance to support the Oregon Zoo's renowned animal welfare, wildlife conservation and education programs."

Zoolala begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $125 for zoo members and $150 for non-members. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the event page or call 503-220-2785.

In addition to Spirit Mountain Casino, support for Zoolala comes from Ray and Karolette Peterson, NW Natural, The Standard, Nike, Lease Crutcher Lewis, KPFF Consulting Engineers, PLACE, Jane Buchan and Jim Driscoll, Portland Monthly, KEX, Deschutes Brewery and Chateau Ste. Michelle, New Deal distillery and DRY soda.
