Mobility devices and on-grounds transportation

Wheelchair and electric scooter rentals are available at the gift shop on a first-come, first-served basis. View rental rates. For questions, contact store594@eventnetwork.com or call 503.525.4220. If you need additional transportation assistance during your visit, do not hesitate to contact a staff member.

Public transportation

TriMet serves the zoo via light rail and bus. The Washington Park MAX light rail station and stop for bus 63 – Washington Park is adjacent to the parking lot. Both the train and bus accommodate wheelchairs and service animals. TriMet's Trip Planner provides route, fare and transfer information to get you from your door to the zoo.

Loading and unloading for guests using wheelchairs

Guests who use wheelchairs may load and unload in a TriMet lift zone. The loading/unloading zone is to the left of the zoo gates, near the gift shop. This location allows guests to unload on the passenger or rear side. If the primary loading/unloading zone is not available, guests with passengers using a wheelchair may temporarily use the TriMet bus cutout.

Parking

Accessible spaces are available near the zoo's main entrance, with more marked spaces throughout the lot. A valid DMV Disabled Parking Permit is required, and most spaces are pay-to-park inside Washington Park. For more information about parking in Washington Park, please visit explorewashingtonpark.org

Service animals

Service animals are welcome at the zoo. When you arrive, please check in with the staff at the entrance.

Sensory resources

Bags equipped with noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads are available to any guests with sensory needs. Stop by the reception office to check out a sensory kit for free. Before attending, download the free KultureCity app to learn about available resources and how to access them and view a social story to prepare for your trip.

One-to-one support

A person with a disability who holds a ticket or membership reservation is provided a complimentary ticket for their one-to-one support person. One-to-one support tickets are not available to be reserved online. On the visit date, the ticket or membership reservation holder and one-to-one support person can check in with a staff person at the entry to obtain a complimentary ticket that matches the ticket holder’s time slot.

First aid

A first aid station is located at the main entrance. Ask a zoo employee for assistance.
