Polar bears do not currently live at the Oregon Zoo.
The polar bear habitat is being redesigned to create a more enriching experience both for bears and visitors, and will reopen as Polar Passage in 2020. Learn more about this community-funded project.
Polar bears range across 1 million miles of land and ocean sea ice. A new exhibit, part of the community-supported bond, will provide the zoo's bears with a long, two-tiered habitat. Natural ground materials, tundra plants, elevated areas for long views, shallow and deep pools and private denning spaces will replicate native habitats. And for visitors: plenty of viewing opportunities.
