Employment

The Oregon Zoo is governed and operated by Metro, the regional government for greater Portland. Metro employees are dedicated to public service, excellence, teamwork, sustainability, innovation and respect. Metro is committed to hiring a diverse workforce.

In response to revenue shortfalls caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Metro is putting a hold on most job openings. View job listings for openings that are still available. To be notified when new opportunities are posted, fill out a job alerts card.

Find employment opportunities at the Oregon Zoo Foundation here. Food & Catering service at the Oregon Zoo is contracted with our partner, Aramark. For job openings please visit the Aramark Careers Page.

The zoo also offers internships in many fields from veterinary technicians to volunteer management. Most but not all are unpaid. Internships are available at the college or graduate level, except for the animal care internship at the Trillium Creek Family Farm, which is open to high school students. Availability of internships varies.
