Oregon Zoo cooks up Sunday brunch for moms

April 17, 2018 - 2:58pm

Reservations are going fast for zoo’s May 13 Mother’s Day buffet

Moms generally love the idea of being served breakfast by the family on Mother's Day, but wouldn't it be even better to have someone else whip up some delicious food (and clean up afterward)? Why not spend her special day at the Oregon Zoo, where your feast will help fund the zoo's core mission of creating a better future for wildlife?

The zoo's annual Mother's Day brunch takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 13, in the Cascade Crest ballroom, downstairs from the Cascade Grill.

This year's feast includes made-to-order omelets, roast turkey, herbed pimento cheese grits, and biscuits and gravy — along with fresh fruit, salads, a kids' menu and pastries. For the full menu, visit oregonzoo.org/mom.

The brunch buffet is $50 for ages 12 and up and $25 for children ages 3-11 (with a 10 percent discount for zoo members and moms). All revenue from the Mother's Day brunch supports the zoo's work in conservation, education and animal welfare.

Seatings start at 9 a.m. and are available every 15 minutes. For reservations, email mothersdaybrunch@oregonzoo.org or call 503-525-4289.

After brunch, visitors can talk a walk around the zoo and spend quality time with some of the zoo's most notable moms and families, such as Asian elephant Rose-Tu, mom to 5-year-old Lily and her big brother, Samudra. Brunch prices do not include zoo admission.
