Summer program lets guests talk with vet staff and explore animal-related careers
Ever wondered why your animal companions act the way they do? Or what it's like to give a cheetah a dental exam?
Oregon Zoo guests can stop by the Family Farm area this month for "Ask a Vet," presented by Banfield Pet Hospital, where veterinary staff from Banfield and the zoo answer questions about caring for animals both wild and domestic.
"We're excited to share our veterinary world with guests," said Dr. Carlos Sanchez, the zoo's head veterinarian. "Banfield and zoo staff are ready to field people's questions, whether it's about their animals at home or how to pursue a career in animal care."
The Ask a Vet series, free with zoo admission, takes place at 11 a.m. Thursdays through August at the zoo's Family Farm. The program is part of a larger signature partnership between the zoo and Banfield, aimed at providing opportunities to learn the fundamentals of responsible animal care.
